Justdial was founded in 1996 by V. S. S. Mani, starting with roughly Rs 50,000 in capital, and grew into India's dominant local-search and business-listings service across phone, web and app. The company (Just Dial Limited) went public in May 2013. In July 2021 Reliance Retail acquired a controlling stake of about 66.95%, making Justdial part of the Reliance group.
