Uber Eats was the food-delivery service Uber Technologies launched in India in May 2017, operated locally through Uber India Systems Private Limited. In January 2020, Uber sold its India food-delivery business to rival Zomato in an all-stock deal valued at about $206M (₹2,485 crore), giving Uber a 9.99% stake in Zomato. The Uber Eats brand and app were then shut down in India and its users and restaurant partners migrated to Zomato; it never operated as an independently funded company.
