Thyrocare was founded in 1996 by Dr A. Velumani, a former BARC scientist, starting with thyroid testing in Mumbai and growing into one of India's largest diagnostic lab networks under the Aarogyam brand. The company (incorporated as Thyrocare Technologies Limited in 2000) IPO'd on the BSE and NSE in 2016. In June 2021 PharmEasy's parent API Holdings acquired a 66.1% controlling stake, though it remains publicly listed.
