Today's education is book oriented. Mugging the content is one way of securing good marks. Most children resort to this method. This situation denies the children to have creative learning. Myself being an educationist I felt the need of making the learning a fun. With this objective in mind I thought of producing teaching learning materials by establishing a startup unit . I have done some experimental wooden pieces of numbers from 1 to 100. They can be used for calculating addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisions. I have experimented this with young children in our own school and found them very effective in developing numeracy skills among children. They go on calculating higher digits creatively which is the greatest advantage in pedogogy. Another set of Wooden pieces are printed with English alphabets both capital and small letters. Children get engaged in joining the letters in order to make English words whichever they know. Gradually the children get acquainted with more words. They lead themselves to make sentences and thus they improve their language skills.
