Mahua (Madhuca longifolia) is an important economic tree growing throughout the subtropical region of the Indian subcontinent. It produces fruit which is valued for its seed which yield high quantity of fat (>50%), commercially known as Mahua butter and has many edible and medicinal applications. Mahua has industrial application as it can be utilized in the manufacture of laundry soaps and lubricants. In Tamia, Distt- Chhindwara the removal of rind from Mahua seed manually is laborious and time consuming. People are removed rind form seed by heavy stone and then dried in open sunlight. The dried white kernel is sold up to 30 /- per kg at local level. An average 300-400 kg dried seed is sold by a family in village annually. We want to develop a machine (Mahua Seed Decorticator) which can be easily removed rind form seeds at low cost. Machine will be operated at both manually and by electrical power.
