Kumaon Himalayas is one such stellar biodiverse system, rich in its agricultural flora and myriad mountain landscape. The lands of Kumaon are rich in minerals and naturally occurring fertilizers. Thus, the agri produce, in sync with nature, is high in nutritional and medicinal value. These are health boosters and super foods. Mountain farming is largely family farming, cultivating patches of usable lands dispersed at difference altitudes. These indigenous farmers of Kumaon follow traditional methods by not exploiting the fertility of the soil with chemicals since it has been the only source of livelihood for generations.
