Ajitha Prodrug is a start-up that aims to venture into the area of therapies for cancer related diseases. While traditional cures for cancer are still heavily reliant on chemotherapy which unfortunately has very painful, short run and long run, side effects. Major pharma’s are currently seeking to develop a new class of drugs – Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC’s), which will eliminate these side effects by delivering a suitable toxin to the specific site of cancerous growth. This involves three important pieces of scientific discovery – the delivery mechanism (antibody); the linker and; the toxin. The most effective toxin, currently, are Tubulysins. These are however, very expensive and time consuming to produce.
