Today the price of spices is determined purely based on speculation on the quality of the produce or based on look and feel. Thus, farmers are compensated for the minimum guaranteed quality, thereby reducing the income that farmers’ deserve. The alternative is to get scientific analysis such as biochemical analysis done. But, these analyses are (1) expensive and (2) time-consuming. Hence these alternative analyses methods are not adopted widely, which leads to lack of information on quality at the trading/auction centres. By solving this information asymmetry, we will be able to add tremendous value in the entire supply chain, especially to farmers who can get the optimal price and also reduce wastage due to rejections. Our start-up aims at achieving this using hand-held devices that analyse the quality of agricultural produce on the spot, in real-time and at reduced cost. We are developing handheld devices and a system framework for enabling reliable, quick, and cheap spectroscopic analysis of Agricultural produce especially Spices. Our systems will help determine quality and grade on the spot, thereby removing the ambiguity in pricing and
