Pralhad Joshi Takes Charge of Education Ministry After Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Education after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the post. The decision was announced after President Droupadi Murmu accepted Pradhan’s resignation on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Joshi will continue handling his existing ministries while also leading the Education Ministry.

Why Did Dharmendra Pradhan Resign?

Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down following widespread protests linked to the NEET examination controversy. Students and youth groups across the country demanded accountability over alleged irregularities in the exam process. The resignation came after growing public pressure and calls for changes in the education system.

Pralhad Joshi Gets Additional Responsibility

Pralhad Joshi, who currently serves as the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy, has now been entrusted with the additional responsibility of the Education Ministry. The appointment is expected to ensure continuity in the ministry while the government works on addressing concerns raised over examination reforms and student trust.

What This Means for the Education Ministry

The leadership change comes at a crucial time for India’s education system. The new minister is expected to oversee efforts to improve transparency in national examinations, strengthen public confidence, and ensure smoother implementation of education policies. Restoring trust among students and parents is likely to remain one of the ministry’s biggest priorities in the coming months.

Looking Ahead

The government’s immediate challenge is to stabilize the Education Ministry and rebuild confidence after the NEET controversy. As Pralhad Joshi takes charge, attention will be on how the ministry responds to demands for fair examinations, stronger oversight, and long-term reforms in India’s education system.
