Google Introduces AI Mode in India for Smarter Search Conversations

Google has officially launched its AI Mode in India, giving users a new and advanced way to search. This feature is part of a Labs experiment and is currently available in English. AI Mode was first tested in the United States and later showcased at Google I/O 2025. Now, Indian users can explore its powerful capabilities directly through the Google app.

The AI Mode is designed to handle complex and multi-layered questions. Instead of typing separate search terms one by one, users can now ask detailed questions all at once. Google’s advanced AI will then analyze the query, break it down into smaller topics, and provide a well-organized summary along with helpful links for further reading.

At the heart of AI Mode is a custom version of Google’s Gemini 2.5 model, along with a special technique called query fan-out. This setup allows the AI to handle complex topics more efficiently and respond in a more conversational way.

Key Features of AI Mode :

  • Multimodal Input: Users can ask questions by typing, speaking, or even using images.
  • Advanced Reasoning: The AI breaks down complicated queries into clear subtopics and provides structured answers.
  • Smart Follow-ups: Users can continue the conversation with follow-up questions that stay within context.
  • Google Lens Integration: Users can snap or upload a photo to identify objects, plants, documents, or products.

How to Enable AI Mode in India :

  1. Open the Google app on your Android or iOS device.
  2. Tap on the Labs icon (if available to you).
  3. Join the experiment by enabling AI Mode.
  4. Ask your question using text, voice, or image.
  5. Get an AI-powered overview with useful links.
  6. Continue the conversation with more questions.

This feature is currently available in English as part of a limited rollout. Google aims to improve the experience over time by learning from user feedback. With this launch, Google is taking a major step toward making search more conversational, intuitive, and helpful for users in India.
