AWS Launches Space Accelerator Program to Boost Startups in Australia, India, and Japan

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a global leader in cloud computing, has launched a new initiative-the AWS Space Accelerator Program-to support early-stage startups in the space industry across Australia, India, and Japan. This program is designed to empower promising space-tech startups by providing them with technical support, business mentorship, and access to AWS’s advanced cloud infrastructure.

Supporting the Space-Tech Ecosystem in Asia-Pacific:

The AWS Space Accelerator Program is a four-week technical and business support initiative aimed at helping startups innovate in areas like Earth observation, space exploration, satellite technology, and more. With the growing interest in space technologies across the Asia-Pacific region, AWS aims to nurture high-potential ventures working on cutting-edge solutions for both commercial and governmental use cases.

Program Partners and Benefits:

The accelerator is being launched in collaboration with Austrade (Australian Trade and Investment Commission), India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub, and Japan’s Cabinet Office. Participating startups will receive AWS Activate credits, mentoring from AWS and industry experts, technical training, and business development support.

Additionally, the program will offer guidance on scaling cloud-based solutions and connecting with global commercial opportunities, especially in the fast-evolving space-tech economy.

Eligibility and Focus Areas:

The program is open to early-stage startups from the three participating countries that are innovating in sectors such as:

  • Satellite operations and communications
  • Earth observation and geospatial analysis
  • Space traffic management
  • Space-enabled agriculture and climate solutions
  • Launch technologies and hardware/software for space missions

Startups will also be guided on how to navigate public sector partnerships and leverage AWS’s government and space solutions.

AWS’s Continued Focus on Space Innovation:

This initiative builds on AWS’s broader commitment to the space sector. AWS has been investing in space innovation through its Aerospace and Satellite business segment and previous global accelerator programs. By launching a region-specific program, AWS is demonstrating its intent to foster localized innovation while contributing to global space infrastructure development.
