The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially launched the FASTag Annual Pass for private car owners, starting August 15, 2025. This new initiative is designed to make life easier for frequent highway travelers, allowing up to 200 toll-free trips each year for a one-time fee of Rs 3,000.
Who Can Avail the FASTag Annual Pass?
- Eligible Vehicles: Only private cars, jeeps, and vans are eligible.
- Not Eligible: Commercial vehicles, yellow-board taxis, buses, or any vehicle meant for commercial purposes cannot use the annual pass.
- One Vehicle, One Pass: Only one annual pass per vehicle is allowed.
Key Benefits of the FASTag Annual Pass:
- 200 Toll-Free Trips: Enjoy up to 200 trips on National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas for one year from activation (whichever comes first).
- Faster Toll Passage: Skip long waits—FASTag lanes typically offer speedier movement at tolls.
- Predictable Spending: No need to top up balances frequently or monitor deductions-your travel costs are capped for the year.
- Convenience: Minimized transactions and hassle-free travel for regular commuters.
- Cost Savings: Ideal for frequent travelers who will save significantly on toll payments over time.
How to Activate the FASTag Annual Pass:
Step 1: Download the Rajmarg Yatra app (available on Android/iOS) or visit the official NHAI website.
Step 2: Log in with your registered mobile number or vehicle registration number (VRN). Make sure your FASTag is active, properly fixed, and linked to a valid VRN (not just the chassis number).
Step 3: Fill in the vehicle and FASTag details. Upload necessary documents like RC, owner’s photo and ID/address proof if prompted.
Step 4: Pay the Rs 3,000 annual pass fee using UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
Step 5: Wait for activation. After payment and successful verification, your annual pass will be live within two to 24 hours. You’ll get an SMS confirmation once active.
Note: Always check the app/dashboard before your next journey to confirm pass activation.
Usage & Important Points:
- Applicable Locations: The pass can only be used at National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas. It’s not valid on state highways, local roads, or parking lots.
- No Auto-Renewal: The pass must be renewed yearly; it doesn’t extend automatically.
- Limits: After 200 trips or one year, whichever is earlier, the FASTag switches back to standard pay-per-use mode.
- Documents Required: Vehicle RC, passport-size photo of owner, KYC, and ID/address proof.
Conclusion:
The FASTag Annual Pass is a convenient and cost-effective solution for India’s frequent highway travelers, streamlining toll payments and removing transactional headaches. With a simple activation process and significant benefits, it’s set to transform long-distance road journeys across the country.
