L’Oréal to Invest ₹3,500 Crore in First Global Tech Hub in Hyderabad, Creating 2,000 AI Jobs

French beauty major L’Oréal has announced plans to establish its first global technology hub in Hyderabad with a significant investment of around ₹3,500 crore, signalling India’s rising role in the company’s global tech and AI strategy. The facility is expected to generate approximately 2,000 technology jobs by 2030 and will serve as a central node for the company’s digital transformation and innovation efforts.

A Global Tech Hub Anchored in India

The Hyderabad facility will be L’Oréal’s first dedicated Beauty Tech Global Capability Centre, designed to drive the development and deployment of digital platforms and advanced artificial intelligence solutions across its international businesses. The hub will focus on areas such as data, generative AI and agentic AI, supporting L’Oréal’s technology needs on a global scale.

The project was announced during discussions between L’Oréal’s CEO Nicolas Hieronimus and officials from the Government of Telangana on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026, underscoring the importance of India’s tech talent and innovation ecosystem in the company’s long-term plans.

Investment and Job Creation

The estimated investment of ₹3,500 crore (approximately €350 million) will be deployed through to 2030, with the hub positioned to create around 2,000 high-skilled technology roles. These jobs are expected to include positions in AI, data science, advanced engineering, and digital platform development, supporting both local and global operations.

The centre is also expected to accelerate the delivery of state-of-the-art, AI-powered beauty innovation and digital services, reinforcing Hyderabad’s growing status as a major technology destination for global enterprises.

Strategic Importance for L’Oréal and the Region

Choosing Hyderabad for its first global tech hub reflects L’Oréal’s confidence in India’s technology ecosystem, particularly in AI and digital engineering talent. The hub will be part of the company’s wider global network of technology and innovation centres spanning Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America, and will contribute to L’Oréal’s digital transformation agenda.

State officials have hailed the investment as a major boost to Telangana’s innovation ambitions, aligning with initiatives such as the “Telangana Rising: 2047 Vision,” which emphasises AI, data engineering, and advanced technology adoption.

Linked to Global Innovation Partnerships

The announcement also comes during the 2026 India–France Year of Innovation, highlighting deepening technology and economic ties between the two countries. Officials and company executives noted that the hub will not only support global product and digital solutions but also strengthen collaborative innovation efforts between India and France.

Future Outlook

With an expected inauguration later this year and full deployment by 2030, L’Oréal’s Hyderabad tech hub is set to become a global centre for beauty-tech innovation, leveraging AI and advanced digital capabilities. The move represents a broader trend of multinational companies anchoring significant research, development, and technology operations in India, driven by the country’s deep pool of tech talent and expanding digital infrastructure.
