Bengaluru Startup Matiks Raises $3.1 Million to Grow Math-Focused Gaming Platform

Matiks, a Bengaluru-based mobile gaming startup that transforms mathematics into competitive fun, has secured $3.1 million (₹27 crore) in a pre-Series A round led by Tanglin Ventures, with backing from Info Edge Ventures and notable angel investors. This capital injection will help Matiks expand its team, boost marketing, enrich its offerings, and pursue growth in new regions.

Unique Approach: Gaming Meets Mathematics

Founded in September 2024 by Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar, and Sushant Timmapur, Matiks has rapidly built a distinctive platform where users test their mathematical prowess through games centered on speed, memory, and puzzles. The app offers live multiplayer duels, daily contests, and global leaderboards, turning math practice into a social and engaging experience for users of all ages.

Creator Community and Social Features:

To encourage deeper user engagement, Matiks recently launched a paid Creators Programme. This feature allows users to build and manage their own communities within the app, share custom challenges, and interact via channels like Discord. Friends can compete and collaborate, creating a vibrant learning ecosystem.

Growth and Market Impact:

Matiks has achieved over 50,000 downloads on Google Play and counts roughly 100,000 registered users,a notable feat given its recent launch in 2024. With fewer than 20 employees, Matiks will use the new funding to recruit talent, expand its game catalogue, and accelerate its marketing push.

Positioned for India’s Gaming Boom:

India’s gaming industry is valued at $3.8 billion and is expected to reach $9.2 billion by FY29. Matiks stands at the crossroads of edutainment and competitive gaming, aiming to provide meaningful skill-building while tapping into the fast-growing market for educational digital experiences.

With fresh funding and a unique blend of mathematics and gaming, Matiks is set to scale new heights as it challenges learners to level up their skills in an engaging and social way.
