Battery Smart Raises ₹185.5 Crore in Series C at $430 Million Valuation

EV battery-swapping startup Battery Smart has raised ₹185.5 crore ($19.5 million) in its Series C funding round at an estimated post-money valuation of $430 million.

The round was led by existing investor Rising Tide Ventures, with participation from Ecosystem Integrity Fund (EIF) and Blume Ventures.

The fresh capital comes as Battery Smart continues to expand its battery-swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers. The company plans to use the funds for business expansion, capital expenditure, working capital and other general corporate requirements.

The latest round also takes the company’s total funding raised to more than $211 million.

Battery Smart Raises $19.5 Million in Series C

Battery Smart’s board approved the allotment of 34,094 Series C compulsory convertible preference shares (CCPS) at an issue price of ₹54,407 per share, according to the company’s regulatory filings.

Rising Tide Ventures invested approximately ₹112 crore ($11.8 million) in the round.

Ecosystem Integrity Fund contributed around ₹49 crore, while Blume Ventures invested approximately ₹25 crore.

The funding was raised across two tranches. The first tranche amounted to nearly ₹97 crore, while the second tranche stood at around ₹88 crore.

Based on the funding and share allotment details, the company is estimated to have reached a post-money valuation of approximately ₹4,075 crore ($430 million).

Battery Smart Had Raised Capital Earlier This Year

The Series C round follows two other financing activities by Battery Smart in 2026.

In March, the company raised ₹66 crore in a pre-Series C round from Acacia Inclusion, Blume Ventures and PC-SBI Kurashi Visionary Fund.

The company subsequently secured $15 million in debt financing from Mirova in April.

The latest equity round therefore adds to a series of capital raises that have strengthened Battery Smart’s balance sheet as it expands its operations.

Building a Battery-Swapping Network

Founded in 2020, Battery Smart operates a battery-swapping network designed for electric two- and three-wheelers.

Its business is based on a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model.

Instead of requiring electric vehicle users to purchase and own expensive battery packs, the model allows them to access batteries through a swapping network.

Users can exchange depleted batteries for charged ones at designated swapping stations.

This model can be particularly useful for gig economy and commercial drivers, for whom vehicle downtime can directly affect earnings.

By reducing the time required to recharge an EV, battery swapping can potentially make electric vehicles more practical for high-utilisation users.

Why Battery Swapping Matters for EV Adoption

Charging time and battery cost remain important considerations for electric vehicle adoption.

For many commercial drivers, keeping a vehicle on the road for as many hours as possible is critical.

Battery swapping offers an alternative to conventional charging by allowing drivers to replace a depleted battery with a charged one rather than waiting for the battery to recharge.

The model also separates the vehicle from the battery ownership cost, potentially reducing the upfront financial burden for some users.

Battery Smart is building its business around this opportunity by expanding the availability of swapping infrastructure.

Revenue Rises 43.8% in FY26

Battery Smart’s latest financial performance shows significant growth in revenue.

According to its regulatory filing, the company’s revenue increased 43.8% to ₹358 crore in FY26, compared with ₹249 crore in FY25.

At the same time, the company’s loss declined.

Battery Smart’s loss fell 12.8% to ₹23.55 crore in FY26, from approximately ₹27 crore in the previous financial year.

The combination of higher revenue and lower losses indicates that the company has been moving toward improving operating performance while continuing to expand.

Investors Back Battery Smart’s Expansion

Battery Smart has attracted backing from several investors over the course of its growth.

Its investor base includes Tiger Global, Blume Ventures, Ecosystem Integrity Fund and Rising Tide Ventures, among others.

The latest Series C round also demonstrates continued support from existing investors.

Rising Tide Ventures led the latest round, while Blume Ventures and Ecosystem Integrity Fund participated again.

The funding reflects investor interest in infrastructure businesses supporting the growing electric mobility ecosystem.

How Battery Smart’s Model Works

Battery Smart’s business can be understood through three key elements.

First, it provides access to batteries through its swapping network rather than requiring users to own additional battery capacity.

Second, its battery-as-a-service model allows users to pay for battery access instead of bearing the entire upfront cost of battery ownership.

Third, the network is designed around the needs of electric two- and three-wheeler users, including commercial and gig economy drivers.

This combination allows Battery Smart to position itself as an infrastructure layer between EV users and battery technology.

What the Fresh Funding Will Be Used For

Battery Smart plans to deploy the latest funding across several areas.

The company said the capital will support business expansion, capital expenditure and working capital requirements.

The funds will also be used for other general corporate purposes.

For a battery-swapping company, expansion requires significant investment in infrastructure and network development.

The fresh capital can therefore support Battery Smart as it works to increase the reach of its swapping ecosystem.

The Road Ahead for Battery Smart

Battery Smart’s next phase will be focused on scaling its network while maintaining improving financial performance.

The company has already increased revenue substantially and reduced its losses, but continued expansion will require further investment in infrastructure and operations.

The challenge will be to build a sufficiently large swapping network while ensuring that individual stations generate enough utilisation to support the economics of the model.

As electric two- and three-wheelers become increasingly important to urban mobility and commercial transportation, battery swapping could become an important part of the supporting EV infrastructure.

Conclusion

Battery Smart’s ₹185.5 crore Series C funding round marks another major milestone in its growth journey.

With Rising Tide Ventures leading the round alongside Ecosystem Integrity Fund and Blume Ventures, the company has secured fresh capital at an estimated $430 million valuation.

Its revenue growth to ₹358 crore in FY26 and reduction in losses to ₹23.55 crore show progress as the company scales its operations.

The bigger opportunity lies in its battery-as-a-service model. By making battery access faster and potentially reducing the upfront burden of EV ownership, Battery Smart is attempting to solve one of the practical challenges facing electric mobility.

With more than $211 million raised to date, the company is now entering its next stage with a clear focus on expanding its battery-swapping infrastructure across India’s growing EV market.
