Uttar Pradesh to Offer 1 Lakh Jobs Through Five Rozgar Melas Across Cities This Year

In a major push to strengthen employment opportunities at the grassroots level, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to offer one lakh jobs through five large-scale Rozgar Melas to be held across different cities in the state this year. The initiative aims to connect job seekers directly with employers while supporting rural youth and reducing migration to big cities.

Rozgar Melas to Bridge Jobs and Youth

The upcoming Rozgar Melas are designed as large employment fairs where companies from multiple sectors will recruit candidates on the spot. These job fairs will bring together private companies, MSMEs, and service-sector employers under one roof, offering roles across manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, IT services, and skill-based trades.

By hosting multiple melas instead of a single centralised event, the government aims to ensure wider regional participation and easier access for candidates from smaller towns and nearby rural areas.

Focus on Rural Youth and Local Employment

A key objective of the initiative is to support rural and semi-urban youth who often struggle to access formal job markets. By creating employment opportunities closer to home, the state hopes to reduce distress migration to metros and enable young people to build stable livelihoods within their districts.

Officials said the programme will especially benefit first-time job seekers, diploma holders, ITI graduates, and candidates with vocational training.

Boost to Skill-Based Hiring

Alongside direct recruitment, the Rozgar Melas will also promote skill-based employment. Candidates will be guided toward roles aligned with their qualifications and training, helping industries find suitable talent while ensuring better job matching and retention.

The initiative complements the state’s ongoing skilling and self-employment programmes, strengthening the overall employment ecosystem.

Part of a Larger Employment Strategy

The five Rozgar Melas form part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader strategy to generate sustainable employment, attract investment, and strengthen local economies. By directly linking employers with job seekers at scale, the state aims to translate economic growth into tangible livelihood opportunities.

Conclusion

With a target of one lakh jobs through five Rozgar Melas, Uttar Pradesh is taking a focused step toward inclusive growth. By prioritising rural youth, local hiring, and skill-based employment, the initiative is expected to ease unemployment pressures, reduce migration, and bring jobs closer to where people live.
