Pine Labs Reports ₹737 Crore Revenue in Q1 FY27 as Profit Surges Fourfold

Fintech company Pine Labs has reported a strong start to the financial year, posting a 20% year-on-year increase in operating revenue for the first quarter of FY27. The company also recorded a more than fourfold rise in profit, reflecting improved operational efficiency and steady growth across its digital payments business.

The Bengaluru-headquartered firm generated ₹737 crore in revenue from operations during the April–June quarter, while net profit climbed to ₹20 crore, highlighting the company’s ability to grow earnings despite rising operating expenses.

What Happened?

According to the company’s financial statements filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Pine Labs reported ₹737 crore in revenue from operations for Q1 FY27, compared with ₹616 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Including ₹29 crore in non-operating income, the company’s total income reached ₹766 crore, up from ₹653 crore in Q1 FY26.

On a sequential basis, revenue also improved by around 5%, rising from ₹701 crore reported in the fourth quarter of FY26.

The company’s profit increased sharply to ₹20 crore, compared with ₹5 crore in the year-ago quarter, driven by stronger revenue growth and tighter cost management.

Key Details

Pine Labs’ digital infrastructure and transaction platform remained its largest business segment, generating ₹499.12 crore in revenue during Q1 FY27, representing a 14.9% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile, the company’s issuing and acquiring platform delivered even faster growth, with revenue rising 31% to ₹237.8 crore, reflecting increased adoption of its payment and merchant solutions.

Employee benefits continued to be the company’s largest expense, accounting for nearly 37% of total expenditure. However, employee costs declined 7.9% to ₹268 crore, compared with ₹291 crore in the same quarter last year.

Other operating expenses increased as the business expanded. The cost of materials consumed rose 39% to ₹107 crore, while transaction-related expenses increased 61.7% to ₹97 crore. Depreciation expenses climbed 12.3% to ₹73 crore, and other operating expenses grew 10.9% to ₹183 crore.

Overall, total expenditure increased 10.6% year-on-year to ₹728 crore. Since revenue grew at a faster pace than costs, the company delivered a significant improvement in profitability.

Pine Labs also improved its operating efficiency, spending ₹0.99 to earn every ₹1 of operating revenue, compared with ₹1.07 in the corresponding quarter last year.

Why This Matters

The latest quarterly performance demonstrates Pine Labs’ ability to grow profitably despite increasing competition in India’s fintech and digital payments sector.

Improved cost efficiency, combined with steady growth in payment processing and merchant services, indicates that the company is strengthening its business fundamentals ahead of future expansion opportunities.

For investors, the results highlight Pine Labs’ progress in balancing revenue growth with disciplined expense management, an important factor as fintech companies increasingly focus on sustainable profitability.
