Reliance Unveils ‘Reliance Intelligence’ with Google and Meta: Major JV to Power India’s AI Revolution

Reliance Industries has unveiled a bold new move into artificial intelligence through the launch of “Reliance Intelligence,” forging major partnerships with Google and Meta. This initiative marks a significant leap for India’s AI ambitions, backed by strategic global alliances and a powerful investment commitment.

New Era: Reliance Intelligence Launch:

Reliance Intelligence is a newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to propelling India’s leadership in artificial intelligence. Its mission spans four key goals: building gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar; forming alliances with tech giants and open-source communities; launching AI solutions across major sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and small businesses; and attracting world-class AI expertise into the country.

Strategic Partnership with Google:

Mukesh Ambani announced a deepened, multi-faceted partnership with Google, led by CEO Sundar Pichai. Together, the companies will establish a dedicated Jamnagar Cloud region, built exclusively for Reliance and powered by clean energy and Reliance Jio’s advanced telecom network. This infrastructure aims to democratize access to next-generation AI and cloud technologies for Indian developers, enterprises, and the public sector, transforming businesses from large corporations to small local stores.

Meta Joint Venture and Rs 855 Crore Investment:

Reliance is also entering into a dedicated joint venture with Meta (formerly Facebook), with an initial investment of Rs 855 crore (about $100 million), split 70:30 between Reliance and Meta. This JV aims to deliver “sovereign, enterprise-ready AI” platforms tailored for Indian companies and government entities, combining Meta’s open-source Llama AI models with Reliance’s massive footprint in key industries like energy, telecom, retail and manufacturing. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the venture is designed to give every Indian access to AI and, in the long run, to superintelligence. The collaboration is a pioneering example of how open-source AI can scale securely at a national level.

Impact and Future Prospects:

Pending regulatory approvals, the joint venture is expected to finalize by the fourth quarter of 2025. The partnership is set to accelerate the rollout of advanced AI solutions across sectors and is already making headlines as a transformative move for India’s businesses, from ambitious startups to major enterprises. In Ambani’s own words, “Reliance Intelligence will deliver AI everywhere, for every Indian,” building on the digital revolution previously driven by Jio.

Conclusion:

With Reliance Intelligence, the collaboration with Google for cloud and AI infrastructure, and the influential joint venture with Meta, Reliance Industries is poised to play a central role in shaping the next chapter of India’s AI journey. This marks a significant stride toward making powerful, open AI solutions accessible throughout the nation.
