16-Year-Old Founder Who Hired His Father Says India Must Build Its Own Tech Race Instead of Following Global AI Trends

At just 16, Kerala’s Raul John Aju is already setting a strong tone for India’s future in artificial intelligence. Speaking at the India Today Conclave South 2025 in Coimbatore, he urged the nation not to follow the global AI race but to start its own, claiming that India’s unique path can unlock maximum innovation. He’s not only a speaker and educator but also the founder of an AI startup, Arm Technologies – where he employs his own father.

A Call for an Independent AI Journey

Rather than joining an already competitive global AI race led by the US and China, Raul stresses that India needs a tailored approach rooted in its own strengths. “India should create its own tech race, rather than joining the global AI race,” he declared, emphasizing the importance of responsible innovation aligned with local contexts.

Tech Educator Redefining AI Learning

Raul isn’t just a visionary, he actively shares knowledge. Through his YouTube channel, he provides free insights into AI, aiming to simplify complex topics into practical, everyday solutions. He’s also developed over 10 AI tools and extends consultancy services to businesses hoping to integrate AI into their operations.

AI as a Tool to Empower, Not Replace

During his talk at the conclave, Raul demystified AI: “AI is just boring math and data,” he said—but added that its real power lies in solving everyday problems. He dismissed the fear that AI will replace jobs, stating, “AI will not replace you, but someone using AI.” He advocates for equipping India’s workforce with relevant skills, launching projects like JustEase, an AI-powered bot that helps citizens make informed decisions during emergencies in collaboration with the Kerala and Dubai governments.

From Robotics to AI Entrepreneurship

Raul’s journey began with building robots and evolved into developing AI tools. Through Arm Technologies, he’s already made unconventional moves, like hiring his father, demonstrating both his leadership and his commitment to nurturing talent around him. His experience and entrepreneurial drive reflect a new generation ready to shape AI not just for profit, but for purpose.

A Vision for India’s AI Future

Raul’s message is clear: India need not follow others. Instead, it can harness its talent, address local challenges with meaningful AI solutions, and build a unique path in global tech. His case serves as both inspiration and a roadmap for aspiring innovators across the country.
